If you are desiring to increase the power of your car without adding expensive after market parts, a cold air intake system is something you may want to consider. This system is designed to lower the temperature of the air entering your vehicle to maximize the power of your engine; the result is that your car performs better and produces a cool intake noise. In addition, a cold air intake system will enhance the appearance of your vehicle's engine bay. Many manufactures offer different finishes for the intakes ranging from normal colors like red, blue and a polished look. While others use carbon fiber. Carbon fibers intakes are lighter, but carry a much higher price tag.

So, just how does a cold air intake work? I am glad that you asked! A cold air intake is designed to decrease the temperature of the air entering your car to take full advantage of your engine’s power. Colder, denser air acts like “food” for your engine, giving it the extra amount of power that it needs to perform optimally. A common rule of thumb is that decreasing the air intake temperature by 10 degrees F will increase horsepower and torque by 1%. By relocating the intake, normally down by the grille or in a fender, you can pull in air that is 10-20 degrees colder depending on the variables allowing you to gain horsepower just by relocating it. Cold air intake systems also replace the stock tubing and filters with much smoother, mandrel bent tubing, and a high performance air filters. This allows the air to enter into the engine at a much faster rate allowing for better combustion.
